INGREDIENTS: 1/2 cup soy sauce 1/4 cup brown sugar 2 tablespoon grated gingerroot or 1 teaspoon dry ginger 1/2 teaspoon MSG 1/4 teaspoon cracked pepper 2 cloves garlic minced 1 1/2 pounds tip sirloin steak, cut in strips 1/2inch thick and 1 inch wide Canned water chestnuts PROCEDURE:
In a deep bowl, combine all ingredients except meat and chestnuts; mix well. Add meat and stir to coat. Let stand 2 hours at room temperature. Lace meat in accordian style in skewers, Add a water chestnut at end of each skewer. Broil over hot coals about 10 to 12 minutes or to rare or medium rare stage, turning frequently and basting with soy marinade. Makes 4 or 5 servings.
Fun to use real bamboo skewers. Soak them in water a few minutes before threading.
